Our study revealed that emergency surgery, anesthesia method, surgery type and ASA grade were risk factors to predict postoperative ICU admission in elderly orthopedic patients.
Our study revealed that emergency surgery, anesthesia method, surgery type and ASA grade were risk factors to predict postoperative ICU admission in elderly orthopedic patients.Myofascial neck pain is a common musculoskeletal problem caused by presence of trigger points and local and referred pain patterns. Chronic neck pain is responsible for the involvement of joints, ligaments, fascia and connective tissue as well. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of Maitland mobilization in patients with myofascial chronic neck pain.
In this randomized, placebo treatment-controlled trial, 30 patients consecutively aged 25-45 years meeting inclusion criteria were isolated into two groups. The study group was treated with Maitland mobilization consistently for eight weeks while the control group got placebo treatment for a similar timeframe. Visual analog Scale (VAS), Neck disability index (NDI) and cervical range of motion (ROM) questionnaire was filled by patients before, intermediate and after the intervention to evaluate the severity of pain, functional ability and range of motion.
Following eight weeks of treatment, when compared the post treatment effects of both groups, the significance value for VAS was 0.008, for NDI p=0.030, for Flexion p=0.573, for extension p=0.001, for right rotation p<0.001, for left rotation p=0.002, for right and left side bending p<0.001.
The study concluded that Maitland mobilization grades (I-IV) are effective in reducing pain and improving functional level of NDI scale and the ranges of cervical spine in patients with myofascial chronic neck pain.

Another objective was to investigate the severity of autistic children by Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) and Short Sensory Profile (SSP).
This case control study was carried out at Autism Research and Treatment (ART) Center, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from October 2019 to February 2020. Plasma concentration of Fetuin-A was analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in ASD subjects (n=46) and normal controls (n=44). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ml792.html Correlation among Fetuin-A levels, CARS and SSP was established by Spearman's correlation coefficient (r).
Overall, autistic children had significantly (p= 0.0.02) lower Fetuin-A concentration [50.76 (22.2-68.5) ng/ml] than those of healthy controls [53.7 (35.6-99.7) ng/ml] [median (interquartile range)]. Children with mild to moderate autism (n=24, 52%) alsoA can be used as a biomarker for ASD.It is known that the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is increased in acromegaly. Craniofacial anomalies, macroglossia, and thickening of the laryngeal wall caused by the increase in soft tissue in these patients lead to OSA. Also, the increase in growth hormone can trigger central apnea by causing a decrease in respiratory drive. Determining the polysomnographic characteristics of acromegaly patients is important to reveal the effect of these mechanisms.
The demographic and polysomnographic characteristics of 33 acromegaly patients who underwent polysomnography (PSG) with suspicion of sleep disorders between 2011 and 2018 in the sleep laboratory of our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. One of the patients was excluded from the analysis because PSG was performed in the postoperative period. The remaining 32 patients with active acromegaly were grouped according to their gender and the presence of OSA and compared with statistical methods in terms of polysomnographic and clinical features.eatures between the genders are similar. Although the median BMI of the patients with and without OSA was similar, the median age was higher in the group with OSA, middle-aged acromegaly patients should be evaluated in terms of OSA even if there is no obvious obesity.
Considering that the prevalence of OSA in the population is approximately 5%, our results show that the risk of OSA in acromegaly increases, and obstructive pathways are effective in this increase. The probability of OSA occurrence and polysomnographic features between the genders are similar. Although the median BMI of the patients with and without OSA was similar, the median age was higher in the group with OSA, middle-aged acromegaly patients should be evaluated in terms of OSA even if there is no obvious obesity. To investigate the value of dynamic monitoring of serum procalcitonin (PCT) in anti-infective therapy of patients with acute stroke.
This is a case control retrospective study of acute stroke patients conducted from July 2016 to October 2018, in the Department of Neurology, Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University, who who reached within twenty four hours. They, were selected as the study subjects who were divided into infection group and non-infection group according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The serum PCT and CRP levels were compared between the two groups at 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours. In order to judge the changes of PCT level and the infection of stroke patients, different kinds of antibiotics were used for corresponding treatment. Retrospective analysis of the cases that did not monitor PCT anti infective treatment before July 2016 were compared with the cases that monitored PCT to guide anti infective treatment after July 2016, and compared the efficacy of antibiotics.
The serul application of antibiotics.
Dynamic detection of serum PCT concentration can make accurate judgment on the severity of bacterial infection in patients with acute stroke and guide the rational application of antibiotics.
